“Kiru!” Bishimi shouted at the top of his lungs as he moved out of the shadows. The sight must have been a grand one to any onlookers that happened to be in the area. A sea of blue appearing from nowhere and washing over what had become a battle field this day. “Nosfentor is a threat that must be removed from this land…at any cost” was one of the thoughts that ran through the Soke’s mind at a rabbits pace….
Two days prior...
Bishimi and his elders sat around a low table in a dank, dark room, one that had been used many times before in planning of this nature. There was a silence in the room, one that made all in attendance a bit nervous. The Soke looked around the room at his elder council wondering who, if any, would be the first to speak. “Why have you called us here Soke?” asked Shihan Garrett. It did not surprise Bishimi that Garrett was the first, he was chosen to be Bishimi’s second based on the fact that he was one of the few that spoke his mind regardless of….well….anything really.
After waiting a moment, Bishimi spoke… “The plague, the hearts, the blackrock….all things that must be dealt with.” He said in a low tone of voice. “And they all stem from one evil.” Shihan Masaaki was quick to respond. “Nosfentors presence begins to threaten not just Brittania but now Tokuno as well. If she is not stopped soon the consequences could be grave.” All of the elders nodded in agreement at Masaaki’s words.
“So what options do we have?” asked Kat “War!” shouted Garrett as he slammed a fist on the rotting table. “We cannot sit here and wait while she grows stronger. If we are going to do anything about her it should be sooner rather then later.” “And what of the Knights?” Kat inquired. Masaaki shook his head slightly “They had their chance when we handed the witch over to them before. We should handle this ourselves.” And as he has many times before in this very room Bishimi looked around one last time at all the elders to see if there were anymore words to share. When it became apparent there was not he simply nodded and slightly motioned to the door. “They all know what to do…” he thought to himself “..as always, we will do what needs to be done.” Little did any of them know, this would be the last time they set foot in this room.
One day prior…
Zento was a wondrous sight this day, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom some leaves even sat upon the ground adding to the beauty of a land that seemed as if it could not get any more inviting. Had any of the clan knew what was to come perhaps they would have taken a moment to appreciate their home on this day, but all that was on anyone’s mind was war. This much was made obvious to the citizens of the land for this was a sight they have seen more then once… in every training hall Samurai and magicians practicing and honing their arts, and the occasional glimpse of a ninja, if one was attentive enough .
It was not simply the army preparing for battle. The people of the land also did what they could. People of every class and walk of life doing their part to help in the coming days. With smiths forging weapons of all sorts, fletchers stringing bows and notching arrows, and alchemists scrounging for…eggs? Around every corner and in every way possible, Tokuno was giving back to her protectors. But with all of the preparation came questions. Questions that everyone was thinking but no one dared to ask. Questions that did not have a solid answer to give should one have built up the courage. The Army of Tokuno was a strong and well trained group and with the Lotus in the shadows surely no average foe could stand up to them? In a few short hours they will all find out that Nosfentor and her followers were no average foe….
If only they knew earlier.
