I’m sure the majority of this information isn’t necessary, however I’m the type of person that likes to plan ahead for any potential problems. I just wanted to touch base on a few items of interest before we proceed with the alliance. As I’m sure Takashi can attest, I take wars and peacing seriously. It’s essential, that if any of your members encounter a problem with an enemy guild member, that they alert their guild leadership immediately. The guild leader should then forward this information to me right away.
I'd very much like to go ahead with establishing the In game alliance. Please make sure the guild leaders in the alliance have a chance to look over this.
I need contact information for the Green Lotus and any other GM's who will be joining that I may not have spoken to yet.
Disputes between guilds are best handled by the leadership who have developed a relationship with other guild leaders. If they are handled in the streets after an incident, it not only allows anger to get the best of us, but it often results in OOC dialogue that only serves to portray a negative image of the roleplay community.
I will answer any important ICQ message within a day at the longest, unless some odd factors happen that are out of my control. If an immediate war or peacing is necessary, you can also contact my diplomacy officer Oona at ICQ 253-367-980, or my undermarshal Marvin at ICQ 21-687-778. My ICQ is 74632222.
It’s important that all members of the alliance are respectful and adhere to the standard rules of the community. As the current alliance situation is an “all or none” type of scenario, if one member of the alliance should fail to adhere to the rules, then it reflects on the alliance as a whole, and can result in a peacing of the entire group by a warring guild.
The following are some guidelines directly from my website at ds180.net/rkr . Please feel free to distribute them to your members or to use them as you see fit.
Rules of Engagement with Role-Played Enemies:
1.- NO looting.
2.- NO res-killing.
3.- NO out-of character trash-talking.
4.- 15 minute death time-out.
When you die in a battle against an enemy roleplaying guild, you must wait 15 minutes before re-entering battle. You can go get resurrected, come back and get your belongings while wearing your death robe but do NOT take the robe off during those 15 minutes. The robe means you are dead. You are a ghost. You may NOT talk (but you can go Oo OOo if you want), you may NOT re-enter battle, you may NOT heal those on your side or interfere in any way such as blocking. You simply stand back, get out of the way, and leave. Once 15 minutes have passed, you may take your robe off. You may NOT re-enter the same battle, but may enter another one. Please note, this is a personal choice of our guild, some guilds believe you can re-enter the same battle if it is going on after 15 minutes. The rationale for this rule, is that a battle truly has no victor or consequence if someone can continuously re-enter the same fight. This allows for one group or another to actually “win” the fight.
5.- Warn before attacking.
When you encounter any of our enemies who are in your city, you should provide warning before attacking. A “KOS” (Kill on sight) is NOT roleplay, but instead demonstrates you are interested in just fighting. Your first step is to tell them to leave to avoid any violence. Make sure and tell them that they are in violation of the law for their prescense in the city, and that they are to leave immediately peacefully, or be put out forcefully. If they leave, good for you. If not, then odds are is that they want a fight.
Please keep in mind that combat is an outlet for Roleplay and should fit. Combat should NOT be the priority but come about as a natural result of tension between two parties. You fill find some of the best roleplayers out there can meet in the street, even if they are in opposing guilds, and hold a conversation without it eventually turning into a fight. Your first thought when you see an orange, shouldn’t have anything to do with a fight, it should instead be recognized as a chance for some great roleplay.
This next section outlines some specific rules I have adopted for RKR, again please feel free to use these. If you choose not to, just make sure your folks understand the basic concepts.
1)Be respectful of those in positions of authority as well as those who may be your subordinate.
2) Vulgar or sexually discriminatory acts or words will be dealt with harshly.
3) Real life racial or prejudiced acts or words will not be tolerated (although hating orcs or other evil races in-character is not only appropriate but encouraged).
4) We're here to enjoy ourselves. If you can't enjoy yourself here or can't allow others to enjoy themselves, please find somewhere else to be.
5) We roleplay and encourage all of our members to be in-character all the time. We realize, however, that many people are new to roleplaying or don't fully understand the process. Our duty is not to condemn them but to uplift and encourage them to roleplay and learn. This should be accomplished by constructive criticism and teaching, not punishment.
6) All members shall be courteous to all players at all times. This includes members of allied guilds. If a situation arrives that you feel warrants a comment or action, especially when concerning allied guilds, you will notify your superior officer who will deal with the manner. Treat others with respect, and we will be respected in return.
